S.M.A.R.T. Status
Mac Hard Drives come with S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) Status, which lets the user know if the hard drive is going to fail. Most of the time, it should say Verified but if it says Failing, please back up your data and replace your hard drive.
To see your S.M.A.R.T. Status, go to Disk Utility and select the drive. The status is at the bottom of the window.
