The serial number of your Apple products can be easily found in four ways:
- On the External Case (required for displays)
- In the About This Mac Menu
- Using System Profiler
- Using Terminal
On the External Case
See Apple's guide on where to look.
In the 'About This Mac' Menu
- Click on the Apple menu and select About This Mac.

- Click on the text that appears below the words "Mac OS X" until the Serial Number appears. It usually takes 3 clicks.

Using System Profiler
- Click on the Apple menu and select About This Mac.

- Click on the "More info..." button.

- The serial number should be on the first screen of the System Profiler (Hardware), usually toward the bottom of the list.

Using Terminal
- In Terminal, enter the following:
ioreg -l | grep IOPlatformSerialNumber - The serial number will be in quotes after the "=" sign.
