How to: Enrolling Your Self-Managed Windows Machine to SIO-Intune

This document will walk you through the steps to successfully enroll your Windows PC into the SIO instance of Intune. Intune is SIO’s MDM (Mobile Device Management) software that manages security compliance such as critical software updates and vulnerabilities for PC’s connected to the UCSD Network. This software helps your self-managed computer met UCSD’s Minium Network Security Standard.

At the bottom of this page, you will also see a link that will direct you to our wiki to install Qualys Agent. QA is another mandatory software that must be installed on all machines connecting to a wired UCSD network set by UCSD’s Minium Network Security Standard.

How to steps:

  1. From the desktop, Navigate to the start menu and open Settings.

  2. Click on the tab Accounts > Access work or school

  3. Click Connect

  4. Click on Join this device to Microsoft Entra ID (THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP. DO NOT JOIN THE DEVICE TO LOCAL ACTIVE DIRECTORY DOMAIN! THIS WILL RESULT IN DATA LOSS)

  5. Enter UCSD email address. This will re-direct you to the UCSD SSO page where you will enter your AD credentials.

  6. Click Join

Please allow several minutes for your machine to fully register to the UCSD Intune instance.

Qualys Agent

Once your machine is registered with SIO Intune, please navigate to our Qualys installation page to walk you through the steps to install the Qualys Agent.
